Hardware Engineer Intern - Summer 2020 (4-16 Months)

Kepler is changing the face of satellite communications by launching a constellation of telecommunication nanosatellites! With the recent success of our Series A funding, a handful of early customers, and our first two satellites in orbit, Kepler is currently doubling in size!

We invest heavily to deliver the best products to our customers, and so we’re on the hunt for two Hardware Engineer Interns who will interface with hardware and software engineers on our team to directly contribute to core project tasks. Here is a little more detail on what you can expect to work on:

Position Responsibilities

  • Design schematics and PCB layout:
  • o   Own new designs from start to finish or iterate on existing designs based on new feature requests and lessons learnt including switch mode power supplies, high speed design, and analog design
    o   Assist with part selection and new project scoping and architecture
    o   Participate in design reviews for all active designs
  • Perform functional and performance testing on individual boards or integrated sub-systems as part of prototype bring up, including development of test boards
  • Participate in path-finding activities, new process planning, and design specification development
  • Position Requirements

  • Significant involvement in a hardware design (schematic and PCB) outside of class projects
  • Experience with one or more CAD tools (Altium, Eagle, Allegro, KiCad, Upverter, etc.)
  • Comfortable in a lab environment and experience using standard tools such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, multimeters, VNA’s, etc.
  • Ability to troubleshoot hardware issues
  • Ability to work in a team and independently with little supervision 
  • Bonus Points

  • Experience in a University design team or building circuits for a personal project
  • Python scripting experience
  • Knowledge of CubeSats
