Senior Mechanical Design Specialist (Engineer)

Kepler is changing the face of satellite communications by launching a constellation of telecommunication nanosatellites! With the recent success of our Series A funding, a handful of early customers, and our first two satellites in orbit, Kepler is currently doubling in size!

We invest heavily to deliver the best products to our customers. We're on the hunt for a Mechanical Engineer who will design and analyze Kepler's next generation of Satellites and Ground Equipment. Below is a little more detail on what you can expect to work on and what we're looking for in the ideal candidate.


  • Create mechanical and electro-mechanical designs for specialized projects such as spacecraft dispensers ,satellite subsystems, ground-support-equipment, and test rigs
  • Conduct static and dynamic analysis on satellite subsystems and produce in depth design reports
  • Develop adequate and clear documentation, including, but not limited to: process documents, drawings, SOPs, QC and test procedures
  • Support thermal analysis and design for the spacecraft and ground equipment
  • Support cross functional teams by aiding in the development of test infrastructure
  • Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of mechanical design experience
  • Extensive CAD design experience using SolidWork preferably
  • Structural and thermal analysis experience using FEA and CFD including Fundamental Frequency Analysis and Dynamic Response
  • GD&T experience and DFM / DFA
  • Detail oriented, mechanically inclined, with the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose and solve problems
  • Comfortable using standard machine shop equipment and tools
  • Bonus Points

  • Previous design for space experience
  • Rapid prototyping experience with machining and 3D printing
  • Ability to read electrical schematics and layout
  • Python experience
